| Catchacoma was born in France (Haras du Taillis) and raised in Switzerland (Gestüt Heidegg). After he was trained in Switzerland during his 2- and 3-year-old carriere he moved to trainer Richard Gibson who trains in Chantilly near Paris. There he improved to a higher handicap-horse and ended his 4-year-old campain with 3 wins (2 on major racetracks in Paris) and several times on the board. He started his 5-year-old campain with a 5th place in the Grand Prix St. Moritz which is running on the frozen Lake of St. Moritz. He then captured a big handicap in St. Cloud (Paris) and a couple of weeks later he even stepped higher and scored a comfortable 1 length win in the Grand Prix Gaston Defferre, a Listed-Race in Marseille. After this success he was send to Hollywood Park to run in the Charles Wittingham Memorial (GI). He finished a honorable 7th just 6 length behind the impressive winner Bienamado. Catchacoma was sold to Mr. and Mrs. Heerensperger after the race and moved to the barn from Neil Drysdale. At the preparation for his next race, a GIII, he's got an injury and was sidelined for about a year. Back in training, now with David Hofmanns, he run once and finished last. We got in contact with Mr. Hofmanns and he told us Catchacoma was retired because of the old injury and that the owners were looking for a good place. As Catchacoma was our first own bred horse and we saw him growing up we had a very special relation with him and we asked Mr. Hofmanns if we could get him back. Mr. and Mrs. Heerensperger agreed and Catchacoma arrived in spring 2003 at our new home, the Queensvalley Farm. We then aquired a companion for him, former racehorse Spitzbub, from the LongRun organisation. Now Catchacoma and Bubba are enjoying their role as kindergarten teacher for our weanlings/yearlings and we are happy to have this two buddies here and given them a wonderful life after the racetrack.
