| ARTAGNAN still in winning mood Back on the dirt track - after a unsuccessful stint to the turf - ARTAGNAN was in his elements again and won wire to wire a higher claiming event (claiming tag was $80,000). Over 7 and 1/2 furlongs jockey Jim McAleney guided him to the wire just in time to hold off a late closing Wadekar by a neck. The field contained also Little Red Zip, who himself beat Artagnan over a shorter distance this spring. The 3j. old Slew City Slew gelding has now 3 wins and 1 second place in 6 lifetime starts. We are looking foreward to see him on the new Polytrack surface, hopefully he will like it. |
